Salter’s Cove is located in the Garden City Beach area of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

A beach side community set apart, in a world of its own. Seriously, you won’t find another community quite like it throughout the entire Surfside or Garden City area.

1. Location:

Salter’s Cove is a seaside community within close proximity to the beaches of both Garden City and Surfside Beach. The entire community is located just west of Highway 17 and within a walk, bike, or golf cart ride to the ocean. Even from the furthest point in Salter’s Cove you are still only about 1 mile from the beach.

2. Amenities

Salter’s Cove is one of the only communities within close proximity to the beach that offers such a plethora of activities and amenities. 

Below is a quick overview of what you have to look forward to as a Salter’s Cove owner.

• Outdoor tables and picnic areas for events

• Fishing pond
• Tennis/PickleBall courts

3. Quiet

Simply explained, Salter’s Cove is one of the very few communities located closer to the beach that doesn’t allow the short term vacation rentals.

What this means to you as an owner will depend on the reason behind your purchase in the first place. Sure, there are both pro’s and con’s to this restriction and will totally depend on your personal reason for owning a home here at the beach.

Obviously, the most obvious con is that you will not have the option to rent the property via options like AirBNB, VRBO, or other vacation rental outlets. (Please note: At the time of this content creation long term rentals of 12 months or more are indeed allowed).

However, not allowing the short term rentals is also the very reason many consider this community to be such an incredibly special place! Like many others, you may be someone looking for a second or primary home and love the idea of staying away from the more congested rental areas. As you may already know the high occupancy and rental turnover can lead to much more noise and congestion. 

If you were to take a drive through the community even on the busiest week of the year (4th of July) you’ll notice quite the difference in comparison to other short term rental areas close by.

4. Property Type

There are various property types in Salter’s Cove ranging from single story plans, raised beach style homes, and also 2 & 3 bedroom condos. 

Most of the single story homes are smaller plans (starting with as little as 2 bedrooms and 700 heated square feet).

There are also raised beach style homes within the community and these plans can be as large as 3,000 heated square feet. 

Some of these raised beach homes are situated on the beautiful pond located at the back side of this community. The setting of the porches overlooking the tranquil water feature is to die for!

There are also condos within Salters Cove. The condos are located in the very back of the community directly on part of the inlet. Also, a very important feature to mention -- This building does allow golf carts which is actually fairly uncommon among condo buildings in our area. 

The condos are 2-3 bedrooms with between 900-1,050 heated square feet. There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor condos. The building does have an elevator so no reason to worry about the upper level units if you do not like climbing stairs. (*From these upper units you can actually see some of the ocean in the background)
