5 Key Facts About Garden City Beach, South Carolina
Garden City Beach, South Carolina (that’s right, not the Garden City in New York 😁), is an area many Myrtle Beach/ Grand Strand vacationers know very well. Garden City is known for its down-to-earth beach vibes, hardly any high-rise condo buildings, and saltwater surroundings.
One key element to note about the Garden City Beach area is its convenient proximity to much to do in the area. Garden City is an unincorporated part of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. To help make sense of that, consider Garden City as the beach area for the city of Murrells Inlet (see the YouTube video above for some drone video to show the location just across the Murrells Inlet channel to the famous Marshwalk area).
Fact (1): The BEACH of Murrells Inlet
If you enjoy what Murrells Inlet offers but like the idea of oceanfront or beachside living, this is the area for you! Everything in this Garden City Beach area is what we locals refer to as “golf cart to the beach”!
Fact (2): Both lower and higher flood-risk property types
Although the risk of flooding is higher around the oceanfront, there are properties in the Garden City area located in the same zone “X” as properties much further inland. Therefore, you can still find a single-story, ground-floor home in the Garden City Beach area. Not to mention for a far more affordable price than you may think!
Fact (3): The Perfect Spot for Boater and Fishing Enthusiast
Finding deep water (this would mean water deep enough to navigate a boat at dead low tide) is extremely hard to find along the South Strand Area. Although there are a few other areas of Murrells Inlet that have some deep water properties, Garden City Beach is the only area where you’ll find deep saltwater dock access out back and nearly direct oceanfront right out front!
That’s right! There are homes directly on the deep water channel, with oceanfront access right across the street from the homes. Not only homes but also some condos offering the same (with boat slip purchase).
Fact (4): Close to all the fun stuff!
Garden City Beach has many great restaurants, entertainment, and shopping nearby.
Downtown Garden City has a few spots, and Surfside Beach downtown is just a quick stroll golf cart stroll away.

Fact (5) The primary area of Murrells Inlet for owners who want to rent their properties to vacationers for extra income.
Garden City Beach is where you’ll find some of the highest-producing rental properties in our area. The returns in this area can commonly outshine properties located in others. This has to do with various factors, but primarily it’s location. Vacationers widely come to the Myrtle Beach area for a very specific reason… THE BEACH!
And because Garden City is an oceanfront area, it fits visitors' desires.
It’s also important to point out that many communities of Murrells Inlet won’t allow short-term, weekly rentals. And while some properties allow rentals off the ocean, they are just tougher to maintain bookings due to the proximity to the beach. Tourists like the idea of vacationing in an area that doesn't require them to have to drive to the beach.
